How to Measure - Vertical Blinds
|
Vertical Blinds are suitable for an inside mount or outside mount.
Measuring for an INSIDE MOUNT is a very easy exercise; basically you are measuring the internal part of the window frame.
Measuring for an OUTSIDE MOUNT, it is better to make the track wider than the window frame (architrave). This gives you maximum privacy within the room; it also gives the appearance of the window or doorway being larger than it really is.
OK, Lets get started:
- Firstly, Decide if your blinds will be installed inside or outside of the window frame.
- The position of handles, bars or tiles and the depth of a window can affect the fit of a blind. Take these into account when determining the fit.
- When measuring you must give exact measurements to the millimetre
- Always indicate the WIDTH measurement first and then the DROP last (W x D).
Please check ALL measurements. Accurate measurements are important for an exact fit.

OUTSIDE MOUNT - Face Fit
Use this option if you intend to mount the Vertical Blind on the face of the window frame. The Blind will cover the total window area and the brackets fitted to the window/architrave frame.
Note: When measuring for vertical blinds you must add an extra 100mm to the width on either side of the frame where possible, this will allow enough coverage for complete privacy. Installing your blinds OUTSIDE MOUNT will make the window or doorway appear larger.
Step.1 Measure the Width
Measure the EXACT outside width of the window/architrave (as per illustration) and then add an extra 100mm either side of the window/architrave.
Step.2 Measure the Drop
Measure the EXACT outside drop of the window (as per illustration). From the top of the window/architrave to the bottom of the window/architrave. If you want the blinds to hang further down from the window simply measure to the desired length.
