If you’re having difficulty trying to match all of the different pieces in a room to a specific colour scheme then stick to this simple piece of advice- blend, don’t match. This is how interior designers solve the problem and now you can too.
What to do: Take a look at all the pieces you are trying to match and ask yourself ‘Do they look OK all together?’ If your gut is telling you it is not right then you need to change something. However, if the colours complement each other (such as greens blended with blue; reds, orange and yellows, blended with browns and greys etc) then there’s no need to worry about matching!
If a piece of furniture is looking a bit old or tacky ask yourself how it would look if you painted it a bright colour or pattern. You can also paint your blinds or curtains to give them a new lease of life.
When redecorating children’s rooms why not paint one of the walls with a mural with a scene such as animals in Africa, under the sea creatures or a medieval castle with a fairy princess?
Incorporating something as simple as a vase with flowers or a table centrepiece allows you to spice up any room. Whilst sticking your colour theme opt for bright colours as this will allow the feature to stand out. Another great idea is to match your centrepiece with your blinds. For example, if you have Ecowood Venetian blinds in white, decorate a mosaic bowl with white rattan balls.
If you’re out of space to put decorations, photos or ornaments why not add a few shelves above eye level around the room. This way it won’t look cluttered and you can still display everything you wish!
